Story credit California United FC On January 4-6, 2025, our very own member of California United FC, traveled to Mesa Arizona, to represent our club in the Far West Championships with the Olympic Development Program, known as ODP. They competed against Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and their final championship match against another Southern California team, beating them 1-0 to be crowned Far West Champions! After making the Tier 1 team in Southern California amongst some of the best athletes in her age group; Siani Ameris Lomeli, member of our CUFC 2013 girls’ team, proved she belonged by scoring 2 goals in the tournament to help the ODP bring home the championship title. Although past members of our CUFC have made it to the ODP team, Siani remains the only member who specifically played for California United FC, making her the first in our club to represent the ODP team as a member of our CUFC. We want to congratulate not only Siani, but the volunteers in the Fillmore community that have been a part of her athletic journey. Siani, a multisport athlete is also a member of the Heritage Valley Blazers Track club, and City of Fillmore recreational basketball program. Her path to the sport of soccer began with our brother organization AYSO, as a 3-year-old, and began to play competitively at the age of 5. It truly takes a community to build a strong and dedicated athlete. Siani is an example of what our community can do for other young athletes. Thank you, City of Fillmore, and congratulations to the California United FC, and our families for reaching such a great accomplishment. “Building Champions.” |
