The Flashes traveled to Ojai on Friday to take on the Nodhoff Rangers. The rangers started with the ball at the Fillmore 48 yard line. A tackle for a 3 yard loss made it 2nd down and 13 for the Rangers. They got 5 yards back on a run up the middle. On 3rd and 8 the Nordhoff quarterback heaved the ball 40 yards down field to the 9 yard line. The Rangers scored on a 9 yard run on the next play to go up 7-0. The Flashes started with the ball on their own 20 yard line. Dominique Gonzales ran the ball 17 yards down to the 37 yard line. Gonzales called his own number again this time picking up 5 yards making it 2nd down and 5 at the 42 yard line. Fillmore handed the ball off to Andres Andrade who managed to pick up 7 yards for a 1st down. Fillmore picked up 2 yards on 1st down moving to the Rangers side of the field at the 49. Andres Andrade picked up 3 yards on 2nd down to make it 3rd and 5 from the 46. Fillmores pass attempt was incomplete, and Fillmore was forced to punt the ball away. Nordhoff started with the ball at the 10 yard line. Fillmore forced Nordhoff into a 3rd and 8 situation from the 12 yard line. On 3rd and 8 the Rangers completed a pass for 15 yards down to the 27. On 1st down the Rangers ran the ball 3 yards. A delay of game penalty against Nordhoff made it 2nd and 12. The Rangers lost 5 more yards on a quarterback sack. On 3rd down and 17 the Rangers attempted a pass, but it was incomplete. Nordhoff elected to punt the ball on 4th and 17. Fillmore started with the ball at the 42 yard line. Hayden Wright was tackled for a 2 yard loss. On 2ndd down Fillmore was stopped at the line, and an offside penalty pushed Fillmore back 5 yards. The Flashes were stopped on 3rd and 17, and they elected to punt the ball away. Nordhoff started with the ball at the 26 yard line with 2:31 left in the 1st quarter. Nordhoff ran the ball 2 yards on 1st down. Nordhoff got a 1st down at the 37 yard line. A false start penalty made it 2nd and 16 from the 31. An incomplete pass on 3rd down forced the Rangers to punt. The Flashes started with the ball at the 25 yard line. On 2nd down and 10 from the 25 Hayden Wright picked up 11 yards giving Fillmore a 1st down at the 36 yard line. On 1st down at the 36 Fillmore was stopped at the line for no gain, and that play ended the 1st quarter with the Rangers leading 7-0. On the 1st play of the 2nd quarter Damien Gonzales picked up 10 yards for a 1st down at the 46 yard line. There was a fumble on the next play, Fillmore recovered, but they lost 2 yards. A sack on the next play resulted in 3rd down and 15. Fillmores 3rd down pass was incomplete, and the Flashes were forced to punt the ball away. Nordhoff took over after the ball was returned to the 40 yard line. Nordhoff picked up a 1st down after a 13 yard run down to the 47 yard line. Nordhoff ran the ball down Fillmores throat, and Nordhoff scored a touchdown on a 1 yard touchdown run on 1st and goal from the 1 yard line. Nordhoff increased the lead to 14-0 with 7:20 left before the half. The Flashes started with the ball on the 20 yard line. Fillmore picked up a 1st down on an 11 yard run down to the 31. Dominique Gonzales picked up 4 yards on 1st down to give Fillmore 2nd and 6 from the 35 yard line. On 3rd and 4 Fillmore picked up a 1st down on a 6 yard run to the 43. Fillmore was unable to pick up another 1st down, and they were forced to punt the ball away. The Rangers started with the ball at the 21 yard line. The ball didnt stay with Nordhoff long as Fillmore intercepted a pass on the 1st play of the drive. Nordhoffs defense held and forced Fillmore to attempt a field goal. The field goal was blocked and the Rangers started with the ball at the 21 with 2:46 left before halftime. Nordhoff was able to run out the clock and they held a 14-0 lead at halftime. The Flashes started with the ball at the 15 to start the 2nd half. Fillmore passed the ball 6 yards making it 2nd and 4 from the 21. Fillmore got a little tricky on 3rd down and 4 as they completed a halfback pass down to the 20 yard line. Hayden Wright took the ball 8 yards down to the 12 yard line. Fillmore couldnt get a 1st down, and Nordhoff took over at the 11. The Rangers drove the ball to the 43 yard line where they completed a pass for a 57 yard touchdown. The Flashes started with the ball at the 20 yard line. The Flashes drove the ball down to the 47 before they fumbled the ball away to the Rangers. Nordhoff passed the ball 17 yards down to the 30 yard line with 2:5 left in the 3rd quarter. On 3rd and 10 from the 30 yard line Nordhoff pushed the ball 15 yards for a1st down to the 15 yard line. Nordhoff scored their 4th touchdown of the night on a 6 yard run with 57 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Fillmore started with the ball at the 20 yard line. The Flashes handed the ball off to Andres Andrade who lost 1 yard on the play, and that play ended the 3rd quarter with Nordhoff leading 28-0. With the ball at the 19 yard line Fillmore quarterback Damien Gonzales picked up 20 yards on 2nd down for a 1st down at the 39 yard line. Fillmore went for the halfback pass again, but they could only pick up 4 yards this time for 2nd down and 6 at the 43. Fillmore ran the ball 6 yards for a 1st down at the 49 yard line. Fillmore had the ball at the 45 needing 4 yards to pick up a 1st down on 3rd down. Fillmore was unable to complete the 3rd down pass and they were forced to punt the ball away with 9:08 left in the game. Nordhoff started with the ball at the 31 yard line. Fillmore was able to force Nordhoff to punt, but Nordhoffs defense stepped up, and Fillmore was forced to punt. Nordhoff was able to run the clock out as the Rangers beat the Flashes by a score of 28-0. Good luck to Nordhoff on the rest of their season as their season as they host Bishop Diego on Friday. That game will determine who wins the league title. Next week the Flashes are home as they host the Carpinteria Warriors for the last game of the season. |

The U19 girls team won 1st place on November 2nd after defeating Santa Barbara on Saturday November 1st and Oxnard and Santa Barbara teams on Sunday November 2nd. The U19 girls team is coached by Homer and Arnold, with the volunteer assistance of Willy and Chris. The U19 team is now advancing to the next tournament in Bakersfield this weekend November 8th and 9th. We wish luck to the team and coaches on their next challenge ahead!! |

Fillmore kicked the ball off to Bishop Diego to start the game. Bishop started with the ball on the 33 yard line. On the first play Bishop ran the ball 15 yards for the 1st down. 2 plays later Bishop got another 1st down on an 8 yard gain down to the 41. A 33 yard pass set Bishop up with a first and goal on the 8 yard line. On 2nd down the Bishop quarterback was sacked for an 8 yard loss. Bishop ran the ball on 3rd down for 8 yards forcing the Cardinals to go for a field goal. The field goal was good and Bishop took an early 3-0 lead with 8:44 left in the 1st quarter. Fillmore started with the ball on the 20 yard line after the kickoff went into the endzone. After an incomplete pass on 1st down, the Flashes gave the ball off to Hayden Wright for an 8 yard run to make it 3rd down and 2. Fillmore wasn’t able to do much on their 1st drive and they turned the ball over on downs. Bishop started with the ball at the 18 yard line. A sack made it 2nd and 16. On the next play Fillmore was called for an encroachment penalty. Bishop tried to run the ball but they were tackled for no gain by Gil Sandoval. A delay of game penalty vs Bishop made it 3rd down and 15. Bishop completed a 17 yard pass for a 1st down. A 48 yard touchdown run gave Bishop a 9-0 lead with 3:25 left in the 1st quarter. Fillmore started their next drive at the 26 yard line. On 1st down Fillmore handed the ball off to Hayden Wright for a 5 yard gain. On the next play Daniel Flores ended up loosing 2 yards making it 3rd down and 7. Fillmore completed a 20 yard pass for a first down at the 49 yard line. Fillmore handed the ball off to Andres Andrade for a 1 yard gain. Justin Coert rushed the ball for 3 yards, and on 3rd and 6 Hayden Wright only managed to gain 2 yards. On 4th down and 4 Fillmore called on Justin Coert to punt the ball away. Bishop started with the ball at the 9 yard line. Bishop ended the 1st quarter with a 9-0 lead. Bishop started with the ball at the 22 yard line to start the half. On 1st down the Cardinals passed the ball 15 yards for a 1st down to the 37 yard line. An 11 yard run by the quarterback gave Bishop another 1st down at the 48 yard line. Bishop got the ball down to the 41 yard line. A 7 yard run by the quarterback gave them a 2nd and 3 from the 34 yard line. Bishop appeared to score another touchdown on a 34 yard pass, but it was negated by a personal foul making it 2nd down and 20 from the 49 yard line. Bishop picked up 20 yards on the next play. Then they got down to the 1 yard line on a 19 yard run. Bishop punched it in from there, pushing the lead to 16-0 with 6:58 left in the half. The Flashes started with the ball on the 26 yard line. On 1st down they handed the ball off to Andres Andrade who was tackled for a loss of 2 on the play. An encroachment penalty against the Flashes backed them up even more to make it 2nd down and 19. The Flashes handed the ball off to Hayden Wright on 2nd down for a 12 yard gain. Fillmore had the ball 3rd and 7 from the 29. An encroachment penalty against Bishop made for a much more manageable 3rd and 2 situation. Fillmore dropped back to pass, but it was intercepted by Bishop, and Bishop started with the ball at the Flashes 43 yard line. On 1st down Bishop ran the ball 38 yards down to the 5 yard line, however a block in the back penalty brought it back. Bishop handed the ball off and they picked up a 1st down on a 15 yard run down to the 30 yard line. On the next play Bishop ran 26 yards down to the 4 yard line. Bishop pounded the ball in from there and they went up 23-0 with 2:20 left before half. Fillmore couldn’t do anything on offense and they went into the locker room at half down 23-0. The Flashes started the 2nd half with the ball at the 35 yard line. The Flashes fumbled the ball, but they were able to recover it. Unfortunately for them they lost 9 yards in the process. Andres Andrade managed to get 3 yards back to make it 3rd and 16 for the Flashes. Fillmore picked up the 1st down on a pass complete to Hayden Wright, 1st down at the 47 yard line. Andres Andrade picked up 5 yards, but a penalty forced Fillmore into a 2nd and 10 situation. Andrade got the ball again and picked up 7 yards for a 1st down at the 39 yard line. Andrade rushed the ball 5 more yards on 1st down. Hayden Wright rushed the ball 3 more yards to make it a manageable 3rd and 2. Fillmore was stopped short of the 1st down, and they elected to go for it on 4th down. Fillmore couldn’t convert, and they turned the ball over on downs. Bishop didn’t have the ball for long though, as Damien Gonzales intercepted the ball at the 20 yard line. Whatever momentum the Flashes had was immediately stopped by the Cardinals as they forced Fillmore to punt from their own 35 yard line. Bishop got the ball all the way down to the 28 yard line before it was intercepted, and returned by Hayden Wright to the 35. Once again Fillmore got a little bit of momentum, but Bishop was quick to stop it forcing Fillmore to punt on 4th and 2. At the end of the 3rd quarter Bishop was in front 23-0. Bishop started the final quarter with the ball at the 25 yard line. Fillmores defense was able to step up and stop Bishop forcing them to punt on 4th and 12. Fillmore started with the ball in great field position at the 47 yard line. Hayden Wright ran the ball 35 yards down to the 12 yard line. Andres Andrade picked up 4 yards. Fillmore scored on an 8 yard run by Justin Coert. The extra point was missed. Bishop was in front 23-6 at that point. Bishop started with the ball at the 43 yard line. Bishop ran the ball down to the 30 yard line for a 1st down. A false start penalty made it 1st and 15. On 2nd and 14 Bishops pass attempt was incomplete, but a pass interference against Fillmore gave Bishop a 1st down at the 19 yard line. A chop block against Bishop made it a difficult 3rd and 16. Fillmore sacked the quarterback for a 16 yard loss. On 4th and 32 Bishop punted the ball back to Fillmore. Fillmore started with the ball at the 5 yard line. Bishops defense held strong and forced Fillmore to punt. Bishop was able to run out the clock. Fillmore lost their first league game of the year by a score of 23-6. Good luck to Bishop on the rest of their season. They play Carpinteria next Friday at Carpinteria High School. The Flashes took on Rio Hondo Prep last Friday night. Fillmore received the ball to start the game. Fillmore struck like lightning on the kick return needing only one man to beat to return it all the way. That one man saved the touchdown, but the Flashes started with great field position at the 45 yard line. Great news for Rio though, their defense showed up the first series. Hayden Wright was taken down for a 5 yard loss. Fillmore then handed the ball off to Andres Andrade and he was stuffed at the line, then Fillmore attempted a pass and it was incomplete. Fillmore called Justin Coert out to punt. Rio started with the ball at the 31 yard line. On 2nd down and 10 Rio was called for a false start that pushed them back 5 yards to the 48 yard line for a 2nd and 15. On 3rd down Kevin Galvan sacked the quarterback for a 4 yard loss. Rio punted the ball back to Fillmore. The Flashes returned the ball to the 34 yard line. The Flashes were held to a punt after an incomplete pass on 3rd down. Rio started with the ball at the Flashes 38 yard line. Fillmore got the ball back. On 4th and 5 Damien Gonzales ran the ball himself 5 yards for a first down. On the next play Fillmore handed the ball off to Andres Andrade for another 1st down run, and that’s how the 1st quarter ended with the game tied at 0-0. Facing 3rd and 1 from the 8 the Flashes made Rio jump off sides. Damien Gonzales ran the ball 3 yards for the score, and the Flashes led 7-0 with 11:14 left before half. Rio started with the ball at the 31 yard line. Rio could not manage to get a 1st down and they were forced to punt the ball back to the Flashes. Fillmore couldn’t manage to get a 1st down either and they punted the ball back. Rio started with the ball at the 23 yard line. Fillmore forced them to punt again. Then with 2:08 left before half Fillmore’s pass was intercepted at the 18 yard line and returned to the 38. Fillmore intercepted Rio and returned the ball to the Rio 17 yard line with 1:17 left before half. A false start backed them up 5 yards 1st and 15 at the 22 yard line. The Flashes handed the ball off to Andres Andrade twice in a row. The second handoff was a touchdown that put Fillmore up 14-0 with 37.8 seconds left before halftime. Rio started the 2nd half with the ball at the 41 yard line. The Flashes forced Rio to punt the ball away, and Fillmore started with the ball at the 15 yard line. Hayden Wright caught a 10 yard pass for a 1st down at the 30 yard line. On 3rd and 12 from the 23 the Flashes completed a pass for 10 yards, but they elected to punt the ball away on 4th and 2. The punt went out of bounds at the 48 yard line. Rio turned the ball over on downs and the Flashes started with the ball at the 33 yard line. They handed the ball off to Andres Andrade for a 9 yard gain. They handed the ball to him again and he took it down to the 48 yard line, and the 3rd time they handed the ball to him he gained 14 yards down to the 34 yard line. Fillmore gave the ball to Justin Coert for a 10 yard gain and a 1st down. Fillmore was ahead 14-0 after the end of the 3rd quarter. On 1st and goal from the 8 yard line Hayden Wright gained 7 yards down to the 1 yard line. Justin Coert was stuffed at the line on 3rd and 3. Fillmore handed the ball off to Hayden Wright who took it 3 yards for the score. Fillmore was in front 20-0 with 9:39 left in the game. Rio started with the ball at the 31 yard line. Rio passed the ball 15 yards for a 1st down at the 46 yard line. An offside penalty and a tackle for a loss made it 3rd down and 18. Fillmores defense sacked the quarterback for a 10 yard loss making it 4th and 28. A short punt gave Fillmore the ball at the 48 yard line. Hayden Wright broke off a 27 yard run before being tackled out of bounds. A false start against Rio gave the Flashes a 1st down from the 16 yard line with 5:37 left in the game. Hayden Wright got the ball down to the 8 yard line, and on the next play Hayden Wright went 8 yards for a touchdown. Fillmore was in front 27-0 with 4:07 left in the game. On their next series Rio turned the ball over on downs and Fillmore kneeled on the ball and the final score was 27-0 in favor of the Flashes. Good luck to Rio Hondo Prep on the rest of their season. They go on to play Polytechnic next Friday at Rio Hondo Prep. Meanwhile the Flashes go on to play Bishop Diego on Saturday at Santa Barbara City College. |

It was homecoming week last week at Fillmore High School. You know what that means, a parade, the crowning of a king and queen, and of course football. Fillmore kicked the ball off first to start the game. Hueneme started their first drive on the 32 yard line. The Vikings first play from scrimmage was a 1 yard loss. The night didnt start off well for the Vikings as they were forced into a 3rd and 16. The Vikings quarterback lost the ball, but the Vikings recovered resulting in a 4th down. The Vikings punted the ball away to the Flashes, and Fillmore started on the Vikings 38 yard line. Fillmore's 2nd play from scrimmage resulted in a 57 yard touchdown run by Hayden Wright. The extra point was good and Fillmore lead 7-0 with 9:26 left in the first quarter. Down 7-0 the Vikings started with the ball at their own 40 yard line. Fillmore got Hueneme in a 3rd and long situation where they were unable to complete the pass and forced the Vikings to punt on 4th and 15. On the Flashes next drive the Viking defense stepped up and forced Fillmore to punt the ball on 4th and 5. Fillmores defense stepped up again as they returned an interception for a touchdown to push the lead to 14-0 with 4:55 left in the first quarter. The Flashes offense got the ball right back though as they recovered the ball on the kickoff at the 44 yard line. The Flashes got the ball down to the 4 yard line before they handed the ball off to Andres Andrade for the touchdown. Fillmore lead 21-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Hueneme was able to get on the board with a 2 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 21-7 with 10:13 left before half. Fillmore started their next drive with great field position at the 40 yard line. Fillmore ripped of a 25 yard run. That was followed by a 19 yard run down to the 5 yard line by Andres Andrade. A penalty pushed them back 5 yards, but it proved to be no big deal as they handed the ball off to Hayden Wright for a 10 yard touchdown run. Fillmore lead 27-7 with 8:10 left in the half. The Flashes kicked the ball off, and once again Fillmore recovered the ball at the 30 yard line. Fillmore got the ball down to the 12 yard line before giving the ball to Hayden Wright, who appeared to have scored, but was marked down at the 1 yard line. A quarterback sneak gave the Flashes a 34-7 advantage with 6:35 left in the half. The Vikings offense started with the ball at the 39 yard line. The Vikings had the ball on 3rd and 1, but they were stopped by the Flashes defense. Hueneme elected to go for it, and they were stopped again resulting in a loss of downs and Fillmore started with the ball at the 48 yard line. The Flashes almost fumbled the ball away, but they recovered at the 30. On the next play Hueneme intercepted the pass at the 19 yard line. The Flashes defense stopped Hueneme again and with less than 2 minutes to go before half time Fillmore started with the ball at their own 45 yard line. The Flashes handed the ball off to Hayden Wright on 2 straight plays to get inside the 10 but time ran out and Fillmore went into the locker room at half up 34-7. The Flashes started the 2nd half with the ball at the 47 yard line. The offense couldnt do much as they turned the ball over on downs at the 42 yard line. Fillmore's defense stepped up again as Hueneme turned the ball over on downs at the 38 yard line. The Flashes handed the ball off to Hayden Wright for a 9 yard touchdown to extend the Flashes lead to 41-7 with 2:40 left in the 3rd quarter. The Vikings started their next drive at the 37 yard line. The Vikings offense stalled again as they fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Flashes at the Flashes 44 yard line. The Flashes threw a shovel pass 10 yards for a first down down to the 9 yard line to end the 3rd quarter. Quarterback Damien Gonzales got the ball down to the 2 yard line before he threw a 2 yard touchdown pass to give the Flashes a 48-7 lead with 11:14 left in the game. Hueneme started with the ball at the 39 yard line. They were once again turned away by the Flashes defense and were forced to punt the ball back to Fillmore. The Flashes started with the ball at the 42 yard line. On the next play the Flashes took the ball 58 yards to the house to go up 55-7 with 7:20 left in the game. The Vikings started with the ball on the 37 yard line. The Vikings threw a 67 yard touchdown pass with 3:45 left in the game. Fillmore was able to run out the clock, and the Flashes won by a score of 55-13. Good luck to the Vikings on the rest of their season.
