Walter Raymond Johnson passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ, on March 28, 2016. He was born on February 2, 1929 to the late Carl and Jenny Johnson, in Tustin, Michigan.
Walt, met Ethel Brindamour and the two were married in Wayne, Michigan on June 20, 1953.
In 1963 Walt and family moved to California. Walt earned an Associate’s Degree and worked for the State of California as a building inspector. Walt also proudly served in the United States Army.
In 1990 Walt and Ethel retired to Lake Havasu City. Walt loved golfing and hunting. Walt was an active member the Eagles, American Legion, ELKS, Knights of Columbus. Walt and Ethel were members of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City. Walter had a commanding presence and wisdom of life; he was an honest and humble man and will be greatly missed.
Walt is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard; sisters, Dolores, Elaine, and Charlotte; grandson John; great-grandson Kai; and his oldest friend Terry Forsberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; nine children, Cathy, Susan, Mike, Nancy, Carl, David, Mary, Walter, and Sam; 45 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday April 7, 2016 from 1:00-5:00pm with a rosary at 3:30 in the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home chapel. Reception will follow at 7:00pm at the Our Lady of the Lake parish hall. A funeral mass will be held on Friday April 8, 2016 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
