Life should be cherished, not extinguished
Written By Andrew P. Napolitano The criticisms of the recent absurd comments by Missouri Republican Rep. Todd Akin, who at this writing is his party’s nominee to take on incumbent Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in November in a contest he had been expected to win, have focused on his clearly erroneous understanding of the human female anatomy. In a now infamous statement, in which he used the bizarre and unheard-of phrase “legitimate rape,” the congressman gave the impression that some rapes of women are not mentally or seriously resisted. This is an antediluvian and misogynistic myth for which there is no basis in fact and which has been soundly and justly condemned. Mr. Akin also stated that the female anatomy can resist unwanted impregnation. This, too, is absurd, offensive and incorrect. Medical science has established conclusively that women cannot internally block an unwanted union of egg and sperm, no matter the relationship between male and female. I think even schoolchildren understand that. What has gone... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/aug/22/akin-absurdity-aside-rap... |

Preparing for civil unrest? Ammunition to be delivered to 41 locations across U.S.
Written by Paul Joseph Watson First it was the Department of Homeland Security, then it was the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and now the Social Security Administration is set to purchase 174,000 rounds of hollow point bullets that will be delivered to 41 locations across the country. A solicitation posted by the SSA on the FedBizOpps website asks for contractors to supply 174,000 rounds of “.357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition.” An online ammunition retailer describes the bullets as suitable “for peak performance rivaling and sometimes surpassing handloads in many guns,” noting that the ammo is “a great personal defense bullet.” The synopsis to the solicitation adds that the ammunition is to be shipped to 41 locations within 60 days of purchase. A separate spreadsheet lists those locations, which include the Social Security headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland as well as major cities across the country including Los Angeles, Detroit, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle. Hollow point bullets designed to cause maximum organ damage
Written by Paul Joseph Watson Why would the National Weather Service need to purchase large quantities of powerful ammo? That’s the question many are asking after the federal agency followed in the footsteps of the Department of Homeland Security in putting out a solicitation for 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets. A solicitation which appears on the FedBizOpps website asks for 16,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullets, noted for their strength, to be delivered to locations in Ellsworth, Maine, and New Bedford, Mass. A further 6,000 rounds of S&W JHP will be sent to Wall, New Jersey, with another 24,000 rounds of the same bullets heading to the weather station in St. Petersburg, Florida. The solicitation also... http://www.infowars.com/national-weather-service-follows-dhs-in-huge-amm... |

Written by Scott Katz In a stunning example of truth stranger than fiction, Democrats in the California Assembly killed a bill that would have made it easier to fire teachers accused of serious sexual offenses against children. The bill SB 1530, had bipartisan support in the Senate, where it passed 33-4, but in a display of strength by the California Teachers Association, six Democrats on the Education Committee either voted against it (Tom Ammiano and Joan Buchanan) or didn’t vote (Betsy Butler, Wilmer Carter, Mike Eng and Das Williams). The bill followed shocking incidents of sexual abuse in the Los Angeles Unified School District and elsewhere, the worst of which involved Mark Berndt, 61, who’s been accused of 23 acts of lewd acts against children at Miramonte Elementary in the LAUSD. Bureaucrats risk national security breaches
Allen W. Dulles, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) wrote in “The Craft of Intelligence,” “sex and hard-headed intelligence operations rarely mix well.” Perhaps the boys at the Pentagon need a refresher course. This past week, the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency warned its staff not to view porn on U.S. government computers. The Pentagon also released a report on April’s Secret Service Colombian scandal. The two are connected. In April, I said the Colombian scandal exposed a national security problem, the epidemic of U.S. government employees viewing porn — child porn — on government networks. I suggested readers type “Transportation Security Administration,” “U.S. State Department,” “Pentagon,” “Immigration and Customs Enforcement” and “child porn” into Google’s search field to understand the scope. I neglected to include “Missile Defense Agency.” Bloomberg quotes a... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/aug/10/executive-branch-porn-pr... |

U.S. military officers are told to plan to fight Americans
Written By THE WASHINGTON TIMES Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles. At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.” It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army's University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an “extremist militia motivated by the goals of the ‘tea party’ movement” seizing control of Darlington, S.C., in 2016, “occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council and placing the mayor under house arrest.” The rebels set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 looking for illegal aliens. It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario. The article is... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/aug/7/the-civil-war-of-2016/ |

Written By Jeffrey T. Kuhner Sean Penn loves dictators, especially if they are anti-American leftists. Recently, the Hollywood star visited Venezuela to campaign for strongman Hugo Chavez. Mr. Penn joined Mr. Chavez at a major rally in the city of Valencia. The actor has been a longtime friend of the despot. With Venezuelans going to the polls on Oct. 7, Mr. Penn came to bolster Mr. Chavez’s re-election efforts. He should be ashamed; Mr. Penn’s actions border on treason. “Thank you very much for visiting us again, dear friend,” Mr. Chavez said, while introducing Mr. Penn in front of a large crowd. “We're all Americans, from the north, the center, the south. Long live the American continent!” Mr. Penn, sporting... http://times247.com/articles/60boycott-sean-penn-traitor-to-his-nation4 |

Written by William Bigelow The most terrifying danger Americans face from a second Barack Obama term isn’t the economy, which is scary enough. The most harrowing prospect is the Obama Administration’s passivity in the face of attempts to introduce aspects of sharia law into our legal system. ... Last October, at George Washington University, there was a meeting between [Department of Justice] officials, including [Assistant Attorney General of the DOJ Thomas] Perez, and Islamist advocates against free speech. At the meeting, the Islamists lobbied for: Cutbacks in U.S. anti-terror training, limits on the power of terrorism investigators, changes in agent training manuals, [and] a legal declaration that criticism of Islam in the United States should be considered racial discrimination. ... Accurate enough that I was awarded my own star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. And I smell something rotten in Denmark. Obama has a big skeleton in his closet. It’s his college records. Call it “gut instinct” but my gut is almost always right. Obama has a secret hidden at Columbia- and it’s a bad one that threatens to bring down his presidency. "For me this is not an 'honour killing', it's a clear case of murder"
Written by Robert Spencer Here again we see the general tendency to deflect attention away from the root causes of murders such as these. Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. A manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'" And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values." In light of all this, until authorities get the courage to tell the truth about honor killing, there will be many more such murders. "Shafilea Ahmed murder trial: Parents guilty of killing," from the BBC, August 3 (thanks to all who sent this in): The parents of Shafilea Ahmed have been jailed for life after being convicted of her murder. Iftikhar, 52, and Farzana Ahmed, 49, had denied her murder but the jury at Chester Crown Court returned guilty verdicts against them both. Mr Justice Roderick Evans said they would both serve a minimum of 25 years. The judge told them: "Your concern about being shamed in your community was greater than the love of your child." The couple suffocated Shafilea with a plastic bag after years of abuse. After the trial. Det Supt Geraint Jones described the killing as a "vile and disgraceful act against someone they should have been very proud of". He added: "For me this is not an 'honour killing', it's a clear case of murder."... No, it's an honor killing. |

Written By Stephen Dinan The Obama administration released illegal immigrants who went on to commit more crimes, including charges of 19 murders, 3 attempted murders and 142 sex crimes, the House Judiciary Committee said in a report Tuesday. All told, the nearly 47,000 illegal immigrants the administration was notified of but declined to deport between 2008 and 2011 under its Secure Communities program had a recidivism rate of 16 percent, the committee said. They were just part of the nearly 160,000 immigrants — most of them here legally — who were flagged by Secure Communities during the three year period but who were either not eligible to be deported or who the administration decided to release. Those immigrants went on to be charged in nearly 60,000 more crimes, according to the committee and the Congressional Research Service, which issued a report on the matter. The findings stem... http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jul/31/illegals-released-feds-1... |

Written by Amy Payne Solar-cell manufacturer Solyndra became a household name when it collapsed, taking $627 million in American taxpayer dollars with it. It’s the poster company for the government picking winners and losers—or really, just losers—in the energy market. But there are 12 more “green energy” losers that have declared bankruptcy despite attempts to prop them up with taxpayer money—and the list is growing. There’s a reason why these companies could not rely solely on private financing and needed help from the government. They couldn’t make it on their own; they couldn’t even make it with extra taxpayer help. These green government “investments” take from one (by taxing or borrowing) and give to another, but they merely move money around. They do not create jobs. They send labor and resources to areas of the economy where they are wasted. Proponents of special financing and tax credits for solar companies claim that these benefits will pay for themselves down the line—but when the companies receiving them are going bankrupt, that is highly unlikely. Written by Amy Payne Has your bank raised its fees or stopped offering free checking accounts in the last couple of years? If so, you can thank the regulatory boondoggle that is the Dodd-Frank financial law. Since its passage two years ago tomorrow, the number of large banks that offer free checking has declined sharply. In 2009, 96 percent of them offered free checking, but just 34.6 percent did in 2011. Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) argued that their namesake would save America from another financial crisis—but most of the law’s provisions have little or no connection to the most recent crisis. For example, Dodd–Frank... http://blog.heritage.org/2012/07/20/morning-bell-dodd-frank-financial-re... |

An Olympics official admits that Muslims blocked one-minute silence for 11 murdered Israeli athletes, one of the widows said
Written By Tzvi Ben Gedalyah An Olympics official admitted that Muslim countries blocked the "One-Minute of Silence" campaign to honor the 11 murdered Israeli athletes, one of the widows said. Ankie Spitzer, whose husband Andre was one of the athletes massacred in the Munich Games n 1972, told the European Jewish Press that Jacques Rogge, president of the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, told her that his “hands were tied” by the admission of 46 Arab and Muslim members to the International Olympic Committee. She replied, “My husband’s hands were tied, not yours.” The widow has been conducting an uphill battle to convince the International Olympics Committee to remember the slain athletes with one minute of silence before the opening of the Games in London next week. It never has done so since the murders 40 years ago. Spitzer gained support... http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/157926#.UAVvq3Dj16q |

Turkey skirting Iran sanctions by trading gold for crude
Writen By Adam Kredo Turkey has exchanged nearly 60 tons of gold for several million tons of Iranian crude oil, despite its promises to uphold Western sanctions on Iran’s energy sector, according to recent Turkish reports. By using gold instead of money, Turkey is able to skirt Western sanctions on Iran’s oil trade, particularly those pertaining to SWIFT, the global money transfer service that until recently assisted the Central Bank of Iran and other Iranian financial institutions. Written by Liz Klimas Over the weekend, the Discovery Channel aired “Hell and Back, Special Ops Ranger” — an episode shedding light on what it takes to make it through the notoriously difficult 75th Ranger Regiment’s Assessment and Selection Program (RASP). According to the Army’s press release on the episode issued last week, Rangers’ operations include special reconnaissance, direct action raids, offensive infantry operations, forcible entry operations, and partnering with host nation forces. Those going through RASP are tested physically and mentally on everything from marksmanship and demolitions to Ranger First Responder and close-quarter combat drills. The press release also boasts that in a class of 114 soldiers, only 91 Rangers graduated. With these hosts... http://www.theblaze.com/stories/has-the-army-rangers-lowered-its-standar... |

Abu Jindal enunciates the same understanding of jihad that we see in the teachings of the various schools of Islamic jurisprudence, and that which is espoused by imams the world over. Yet in the U.S. we are forced to believe, on pain of charges of "Islamophobia," that Abu Jindal's understanding of jihad is drastically wrong: a "hijacking" of a peaceful faith. Yet never do those who make this claim ever do anything to refute Abu Jindal or others like him, and nothing exists in the teachings of the various Muslim sects and schools that contradicts what Abu Jindal says here. "Abu Jindal has no remorse for Mumbai carnage, say investigators," from the Indo-Asian News Service, July 4 (thanks to The Religion of Peace): New Delhi: There is no remorse in Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jindal Hamza, the Indian national who has confessed to being in the control room in Karachi during... http://www.jihadwatch.org/2012/07/director-of-mumbai-jihad-mass-murders-... |

[Editor's note: This letter does appear to be written by 95-year-old World War II Navy veteran Harold B. Estes in 2009, Mr. Estes does misquote President Obama's "Despicable lies." Harold B. Estes died on May 17, 2011.] http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/harold_estes.htm http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/haroldestes.asp Dear President Obama, My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country. One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.. So here goes. I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish. I can't figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends & enemies despicable lies like: " We're no longer a Christian nation." "America is arrogant" (Your wife even announced to the world," America is mean- spirited. "Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.) I'd say shame on the both of you, but I don't think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House. After 9/11 you said," America hasn't lived up to her ideals." Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn't mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom. I don't think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected. Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don't, I'll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue. You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves. And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don't want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don't mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don't want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists. One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you're the Commander- in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you're not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you're thinking of. You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You're not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That's not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don't want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle. Sincerely, |
