The City of Fillmore passes proclamations for a variety of good and worthy reasons. A proclamation is passed recognizing Constitution Month/Week & Day, outstanding service to the City by a group or an individual and even when a FUSD sports team wins a championship. This time of the year, we hear a lot about pride. There’s a pride proclamation the mayor should sign in June to emphasize and recognize our Traditional American Families and take pride in them. Let’s declare June, “Traditional American Family Pride Month.” Here’s an example of what that proclamation might look like:
****
                        Traditional American Family Pride

WHEREAS, a traditional American family typically provides a strong emotional support system, where family members can rely on one another during challenging times, fostering a sense of belonging and security.
WHEREAS, traditional American families often uphold shared values and beliefs, promoting a sense of identity and unity within the family unit.
WHEREAS, traditional families often provide a stable and structured environment, which can be beneficial for children's development and overall well-being.
WHEREAS, in a traditional family, parents often serve as role models, guiding their children through life's challenges and teaching important life skills, values, and traditions.
WHEREAS, a traditional family structure can offer economic stability, with multiple family members contributing to the household income and pooling resources to support each other's needs.
WHEREAS, growing up in a traditional family can provide ample opportunities for socialization, allowing children to develop essential interpersonal skills and build relationships with extended family members.
WHEREAS, traditional families often place importance on preserving cultural heritage, customs, and traditions, passing them down through generations and fostering a sense of cultural identity.
WHEREAS, traditional family structures often involve the division of labor, where various family members assume different roles and responsibilities, creating a balanced and efficient household dynamic.
WHEREAS, being part of a traditional family can foster strong emotional bonds among family members, creating lifelong connections and a support network that extends beyond childhood.
WHEREAS, traditional American families tend to pass down their values and principles from one generation to the next, preserving family traditions and ensuring the continuation of important cultural and familial legacies.
NOW THEREFORE I, Mark Austin, Mayor of the City of Fillmore, California, hereby proclaim June as TRADITIONAL AMERICAN FAMILY PRIDE Month in the City of Fillmore.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Fillmore, California to be affixed this XXth day of June, 2023.
