On April 25th the Fillmore Police Department received approval from Fillmore City Council for the purchase of four E-Bikes. Enlarge Photo On April 25, 2023, the Fillmore City Council voted (5-0) and approved the purchase of four (4) E-Bikes to be used by the Fillmore Police Department. The E-Bikes will be used to augment uniformed patrol services throughout the city by allowing deputies to undertake bicycle patrols. The E-Bikes offer many benefits to the community, including high visibility, and engagement with our community members. Patrolling on bicycles makes our deputies more accessible and personable to the public and will help facilitate more proactive and positive police contacts with members of our community. |

On Monday, June 5th, 2023, at 8:50pm, Fillmore Police Department, Fillmore City Fire Department, and AMR Paramedics were dispatched to a reported traffic collision in the 900 block of Ortega Street, Fillmore. Arriving deputies found two vehicles involved with moderate damage to one of the cars, along with a broken windshield. At least three occupants fled the scene and were last seen running westbound on Ortega Street. Incoming units searched the area and were unable to locate any occupants. “Operation Chill 7-11” is a community outreach program designed to enhance relationships among stores, police, and youth. This year marks the 28th year of Operation Chill within the 7- Eleven franchise and it allows law enforcement to award a coupon for a free small Slurpee to kids they see doing good deeds or exhibiting positive behavior. On June 2nd, 2023, the Fillmore Police Station was able to award a few coupons to students attending Fillmore High School (above). On Friday, June 2nd, at 3:31pm, Ventura County Fire Department, AMR Paramedics and California Highway Patrol were dispatched to a traffic collision on SR23 / Bardsdale Avenue, Bardsdale. Arriving paramedics reported two vehicles with minor damage. The collision caused southbound SR23 to shut down until tow arrived to clear the roadway. On Monday, June 5th, at 8:20am, Ventura County Fire Department, AMR Paramedics, and California Highway Patrol were dispatched to a reported traffic collision on SR23 / Elkins Road, Bardsdale. Arriving firefighters found a truck with a trailer attached and a blue Audi with front-end damage. Two patients were on-scene; one patient was transported to CMH Hospital for minor injuries, second patient was not transported. According to CHP, approximately 20 gallons of fuel from the truck spilled onto the roadway causing both directions of SR23 to shut down until Environmental Health arrived. On June 4, 2023, Fillmore deputies conducted an investigation involving the theft of a truck and miscellaneous tools. The victim reported his dog was also in the truck when it was stolen. After a lengthy investigation, deputies were able to locate the victim’s truck and reunite “Bella” with her owner. Enlarge Photo |

On Monday, May 29, at 11:14pm, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy from the Fillmore Patrol Services made a traffic stop on westbound Highway 126 at the 10th Street overpass, Santa Paula. Within minutes the deputy advised the driver fled the scene and was last seen running northbound on the 10th Street. Additional Fillmore units, along with Santa Paula Police Department, searched nearby neighborhoods. An on-scene deputy located a 9mm round in the vehicle and it was towed away. On Monday, May 29th at 11am, Bardsdale Cemetery held a Memorial Day Ceremony featured speaker this year was Marc Allen. Reverend Bob Hammond, of St. Stephens Anglican Church, gave the Inspirational Message. Assisting the ceremony was VFW Post 9637, Boy Scout Troop 406, Cub Scout Troop 3400 and Bill Morris. The Boy Scouts and Bardsdale 4H put out the American flags as well as picked them up. Enlarge Photo |
