Over the last couple of weekends former Fillmore Harriers have competed for their respective collegiate cross country teams.

In the team competition, Westmont placed among the top schools with a third place finish.

Two of our former athletes, now competing for the University of Northridge, traveled to Riverside on September 16th and ran in the Riverside Cross Country Invitational. Their races were run on the UCR Agricultural Operations Course. The Men’s Invite competed over an 8 kilometer course. Camilo Torres was second man for his team and ran to a 105th place finish to help his team secure 21st place. In the women’s six kilometer race, Vanessa Avila helped the Northridge team secure 15th place by finishing in 143rd
place in a time of 23:23.5.

On Friday, September 15th, Alianna Tapia, a member of the Moorpark College women's cross country team, traveled to Long Beach to compete in the SoCal Preview Meet. This meet was held on the El Dorado Park course. Alianna led her team over the 5K course to an 11th place finish. She was Moorpark’s top finisher by placing 10th in a personal best time of 19:09.6.

On Saturday, September 23rd, all 4 athletes will come together on their respective teams and compete at Central Park in Santa Clarita at the Master’s University Invitation. First race of the day starts at 7:30 a.m. This would be a perfect time to support our alumni athletes. Hope to see you there.

Fillmore AYSO 242 had their opening day on August 19, 2023. President Arnold Munoz opened the ceremonies followed by words of encouragement from City Council Member Christopher Gurrola and City Manager David Rowlands. Fillmore Fire made the first kick of the season with Jason Arroyo passing the ball off to kids anxiously awaiting the start of their game! AYSO in Fillmore has seen a tremendous growth in numbers this year, officially making it the largest youth organization operating in the city. Lots of volunteers make this possible through dedication and hard work. A thank you to Bunnin Chevrolet (inset), Amecis Pizza of Fillmore and Heritage Valley Air, our platinum and gold sponsors. Our program relies heavily on community sponsorship and support, and we have many businesses that come out to support. Our volunteers and sponsors really make our program work.
