Fillmore High Wrestling Team competed in the Citrus Coast League Matches vs. Santa Paula High School, Channel Islands High School, and Nordhoff High School. Ed., FHS Wrestling Coach The Fillmore Flashes Wrestling Team competed in Citrus Coast League Matches vs. Santa Paula High School, Channel Islands High School, and Nordhoff High School. The Varsity Boys are 2-1, defeating Santa Paula (score of 42-30) and Channel Islands (42-32) while losing to Nordhoff (18-57). The Varsity Girls are 2-1, defeating Santa Paula (60-18) and Nordhoff (36-18) while losing to Channel Islands (30-34). The Junior Varsity Boys are 3-0, defeating Santa Paula (36-6), Channel Islands (18-12) and Nordhoff (30-12). Key members of the Varsity Boys Team include Tony Lemus, Micah Harm, Emiliano Castanon, Gonzalo Landeros, Pedro Diaz, and Elijah Hodges. Key members of the Varsity Girls Team include Natalia Herrera, Alexa Martinez, Emma Torres, and Ava Manzano. Key Members of JV Team are Marcus Lechuga, Eddie Padilla, and Armando Avila. The Flashes will next compete in their final home Citrus Coast League meet of the season vs. Hueneme High School on Wednesday, January 17th (starting time is 5:30 pm) before heading back to Channel Island High School for the Citrus Coast League Championship Finals on Saturday, February 3rd (starting time is 10:00 am) where 14 CCL champions will be crowned in their respective weight classes. “We have a young team, but we are gaining valuable experience in every match which will benefit us in the upcoming seasons,” said Coach Michael Torres. “We have had some exciting team wins and some great individual matches over the past few weeks. We are looking to finish strong as we get closer to the league championship tournament where the Varsity Boys and Girls will have the opportunity to qualify for the CIF Individual Wrestling Championships on February 9th and 10th.” |

The Fillmore Unified School District would like to recognize the Lady Lightning cheer team! After a 10 year hiatus, Fillmore High School has a competitive cheer team. Lady Lightning competed at the Jamz Holiday Showcase in Anaheim on Saturday, December 9th, against five other teams and brought home 1st Place! Lady Lightning qualified for Jamz School Cheer Nationals which will be held in Las Vegas, January 26-27. Lady Lightning is under the direction of Head Coach Caitlin McCall, Assistant Coach Tammy Ferguson and Volunteer Coach Ellyse Lucas. Go Flashes! Back in November Fillmore’s California United FC 2008 Girls' Team was named Champions in the Cal Coast Soccer League for the 3rd year in a row, with a season that ran approximately two months, from September to November. This talented group of young ladies, mostly all playing for Fillmore High School girls’ soccer team, are now Three-Peat title winners. Keep making Fillmore proud! The Cal Coast Soccer League has 9 Teams; 2008 CU Girls - Champions of Championship Division Overall Record: 9-1-2; Goals Scored: 42; Goals Against: 14. FHS Wrestling Team opened the 2023/2024 season at Pacifica and Orange Lutheran High School. Enlarge Photo The Fillmore High School Flashes Wrestling Team has had a successful start to the 2023-2024 season. Alexa Martinez, grade 11, took 4th Place at the Ladies Triton Tournament, hosted by Pacifica High School. Tony Lemus, grade 10, took 3rd Place and Elijah Hodges, grade 11, took 5th Place at the Lancer Open Tournament, hosted by Orange Lutheran High School. “I am proud of our recent team efforts. Alexa is a three-year FHS wrestler and Fillmore Middle School Wrestling Alumni and her hard work over the past years is showing on the mat. Tony and Elijah are both first year wrestlers and for them to place at their first varsity level tournament is testimony to their potential and special talent,” said Coach Michael Torres. The Flashes will host two Citrus Coast League home meets this year on Thursday, December 21st vs. Santa Paula High School and Wednesday, January 17th vs. Hueneme High School, with both events scheduled to start at 5:00pm.
