On Friday October 31, 2008 Fillmore High School will host the 98th meeting between Santa Paula and Fillmore. This time honored tradition is anticipated by both cities as they join together yearly for this long awaited event. Due to the fact that this year it falls on Halloween, anyone dressed in costumes that are “Middle School Age” and above WILL NOT be allowed into the game. Fillmore High School apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but hopes you will understand that it is important to create a safe environment for all that attend. Pre-Sale Tickets will go on sale MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH and will be available during school hours at the Student Store at Fillmore High School. Adults $7, Students & Children $4 and Seniors $3. Other game highlights, Troy Hayes had over 200 all purpose yards along with a 49 yard interception touchdown; Nathan Ibarra was 4 of 10 for 124 yards; Noah Aguirre had a 64 yard interception return for a touchdown. Noah Aguirre #10 runs the ball on a 58 yard interception. Flashes are 3-0 in season they played Bishop Diego last Friday night and beat them 42-3. According to Coach Dollar, The Flashes played strong defense Friday night. Christian Prado had 11 tackles and 2 sacks and a fumble recovery, Froggy Estrada had 50 yard interception return and Noah Aguirre had a 58 yard interception return. Both Nick Paz and Troy Hayes rushed over 100 yards, Nathan Ibarra had 3 rushing touch downs to lead the Flashes past Bishop Diego. “We played great defense and our offensive line did an outstanding job up front” said Coach Dollar. Fillmore plays Kilpatrick this Friday at 7:30 p.m. they are also celebrating homecoming. Fillmore Flashes held Raider Night at last Friday night’s game. The little guys were able to run out on the field with the varsity players, and the Raider Cheerleaders were on the field as well. Varsity Football Re-cap: Nathan Ibarra passed for over 150 yds and rushed for 66yds to lead the flashes past Village Christian. Christian Prado was the leading tackler with 10 tackles. “This is what the team needed more than anything, to believe that they have the ability to execute and end the game with a big win”, according to Coach Dollar. RB Austin Davis also ran the ball well scoring two touchdowns. QB Corey Cole threw the ball well completing 5 of 6 passes for 125yrds. He also scored on a quarterback sneak. Angel Barrajas scored our first touchdown on a great hard run breaking four tackles & running for 45yrds to score. Troy Hayes had over 150 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns including a 66 yard punt return for a score, to lead the Flashes past the Channel Island Raiders. Ralph Sandoval #25, pictured above, caused a fumble in the 3rd quarter that was recovered by Marco Herrera, a key turning point in the game. Christian Prado led the defense with 11 tackles. “The team did exactly what was required of them in the second half, they didn’t allow another score and they put twenty points on the board for the go-ahead win,” stated Coach Dollar.
