A recent solicitation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) reveals that the agency is seeking a "massive" online database capable of pulling up individuals' personal information, connections and associates.

On March 28, ATF posted the notice on FedBizOpps.gov, entitled "Investigative System." The solicitation was updated on April 5 with a few minor changes.

The document says that the system will be utilized by staff "to provide rapid searches on various entities for example; names, telephone numbers, utility data and reverse phone look-ups, as a means to assist with investigations, and background research on people, assets and businesses."

California State Sheriffs are now on record opposing more federal gun control.

The good news is that this isn’t news.

In response to Barack Obama’s recent gun ban proposals, the California State Sheriffs’ Association sent a letter to Obama’s gun control point man, Vice President Joe Biden. In it the sheriffs made their position clear, as many police and sheriffs across the country have recently done, that the Second Amendment is something they understand and intend to enforce – even against the feds.

Some police chiefs, being politically influenced, favor gun control. Since elected chiefs, especially in big cities with gang and drug violence, often resemble politicians more than working street cops, the reasons behind their different opinions become obvious.

Rage over the waste and injustice of agents sent by the federal government to bang on doors of law-abiding citizens to ask probing, creepy questions is normally something that bubbles up only every 10 years. But ever since the federal government became a cancerous leviathan, the outrage is now an annual occurrence.

The first census in 1790 asked a bare minimum of questions essential for establishing congressional districts of equal populations. Despite the abhorrent practice of slavery at the time — and the counting of blacks for purposes of their fractional apportionment — the whole endeavor was aimed at fairness.

In the 223 years since, the census has spawned an entire federal bureaucracy with tentacles reaching into the farthest hidden crannies of the country. It asks darkly invasive questions that are unnecessary at best.

Every year hundreds of thousands of Americans use firearms to defend themselves from attackers of one kind or another. Despite the state’s reputation as a frontier state, Colorado’s Democrats are hell-bent on disarming law-abiding citizens and, in particular, women, from being able to defend themselves with a firearm. The latest is state Sen. Evie Hudak who, at a hearing on banning concealed carry on college campuses, told rape survivor Amanda Collins that having a gun would not have done her any good. Collins had just shared her story of survival. Democrat Hudak berated her in response.

SAN FRANCISCO — On a May day in 2009, Vaughn Walker was going through one of his weekly routines as a federal judge, reviewing a stack of new lawsuits assigned to his San Francisco chambers, when one case caught his eye: Perry v. Schwarzenegger.

Four sheriffs from across the country joined Glenn Beck on TheBlaze TV Wednesday to discuss the current push for more gun control legislation in the United States. Beck called them the “bravest sheriffs in all of America” for standing up for the Second Amendment and refusing to even consider disarming Americans, even under pressure.

“You have a right to own the firearms of your choice,” Beck said. “That right shall not be infringed. It’s not about hunting, it’s not about target practice, it’s not even about rape or home defense. Today, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit declined the State of Illinois’ petition to rehear en banc the Court’s December 11, 2012 decision striking down as unconstitutional Illinois’ total ban on carrying firearms for self-defense outside one’s home or business. The case is Shepard v. Madigan, and involves lead plaintiff Mary Shepard, an Illinois resident and a trained gun owner, who is licensed to carry a concealed handgun in both Utah and Florida, but prohibited from doing so under Illinois law. After Ms. Shepard and an 83-year-old co-worker were viciously attacked in the church where they worked, and beaten by a six-foot-three-inch, 245 pound man with a violent past and a criminal record, she brought suit challenging the Illinois law that prevented her from having a firearm on her that day. The National Rifle Association is funding this case, with the Illinois State Rifle and Pistol Association as a co-plaintiff. By law, Alexander Hernandez should have surrendered his gun to the state of California three years ago after a judge issued a restraining order against him for alleged domestic violence.

He didn't.

So one night recently , when the 26-year-old was at home in Whittier with his toddler, eight armed agents from the California Department of Justice banged on his door and took it from him.

Agents found the loaded .45-caliber handgun in a safe by his bed. Hernandez, who told the agents he had forgotten that he was supposed to turn in the weapon, was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing a handgun, records show.

The Fish and Game Commission is considering a state-wide ban on the use of lead ammunition for hunting. Almost two years ago, a bill (AB821) was signed into law that imposed a ban on the use of lead ammunition for hunting in areas occupied by the California condor. Through its hunting regulations, the Commission extended the ban to include .22 rimfire ammunition and expanded the boundaries where the ban applies. With this track record, the Commission is likely to be receptive to carrying the ban to the borders of the state.

From the beginning, proponents of the current ban have wanted to lead ammunition banned state-wide. The California condor was simply being used as an excuse by the anti-hunters and anti-gunners to carry out this agenda. They have already achieved a partial ban. The next step is to take it state-wide. If they are successful, they will push to ban the use of lead ammunition for everyone, not just hunters.

It’s clear that the gun control debate is here to stay for the time being. That being the case, it’s important that we really examine all the facts surrounding gun violence.

So just how likely are you to be killed by a gun in the United States? The Economist has put together an interesting graphic that demonstrates your chances of getting killed by an array of things, including guns, heart disease, fire and more.

According to the Economist’s chart, your chances of dying as a result of “assault by firearm” is about 1 in 25,000. Americans also have a 1 in 514,147 chance of being killed by “firearms discharge. While still considered one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., the data certainly is at odds with the mainstream media narrative that all guns are simply mass killing machines.

Newsweek's May 21, 2012, issue caused a stir when it declared Obama the country's "first gay president." The president lived up to this title when, while speaking about civil liberty accomplishments, he gave the first ever shout-out to a gay bar in an inaugural address.

The far worse classification being used by people are ones that directly compare Obama to God. They are becoming so numerous, he could just as well be called our first deity president. Here are some examples:

* A Florida A&M professor named Barbara Thompson published a book titled, The Gospel According to Apostle Barack. In this book, Thompson likens Obama to Jesus Christ.

* Street vendors and souvenir stores across Washington D.C. are selling posters depicting President Obama as Jesus Christ.

* Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx recently called Barack Obama "our lord and savior."
