It is simple common sense that soldiers who are Muslim might be hearing from other Muslims that no non-Sharia government has any legitimacy, and that the U.S. is the enemy of Muslims for waging war in Afghanistan and Iraq, etc. It is simple common sense to try to determine the allegiances and loyalties of Muslim soldiers. But to attempt such a thing would be “Islamophobic,” and the need to avoid “Islamophobia” trumps everything.

Western Christians, Catholic and Protestant, set a great deal of hope upon their ongoing “dialogue” with Muslim leaders. A jihadi group occupying the Syrian town of Raqqa recently gave Christian minorities living there three choices: 1) convert to Islam, 2) remain Christian but pay tribute and accept third-class subject status, or 3) die by the sword.

According to the BBC, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria issued a directive citing the Islamic concept of “dhimma,” [which] requires Christians in the city to pay tax of around half an ounce (14g) of pure gold in exchange for their safety. It says Christians must not make renovations to churches, display crosses or other religious symbols outside churches, ring church bells or pray in public. Christians must not carry arms, and must follow other rules imposed by ISIS (also known as ISIL) on their daily lives. The statement said the group had met Christian representatives and offered them three choices—they could convert to Islam, accept ISIS’ conditions, or reject their control and risk being killed. “If they reject, they are subject to being legitimate targets, and nothing will remain between them and ISIS other than the sword,” the statement said.

This is not surprising. British authorities are so determined to accommodate Islamic legal and cultural norms that it is perfectly understandable that this man thought that an FGM helpline was designed not to prevent the practice, but to make it available. And if Britain continues to accommodate Sharia, that is exactly what it will become. The prosecutions of those who perform this barbaric operation and ask for it to be done have been long delayed, and ultimately will do nothing to stop it, since it is based on Islamic religious imperatives; they’ll only just drive it farther underground. And ultimately, the British authorities will have to choose between their accommodation of Islam and Muslims and their disapproval of this practice. It is indeed too bad that cars and guns are not treated the same way. If they were, accidental automobile deaths might become nearly non-existent.

In a recent editorial (“Guns, cars and dead Americans”, 10/24/2013) The Post-Gazette bemoaned many things, and opined with a level of inaccuracy not tolerated at shooting ranges. The editorial’s gist was that government regulation and legislation made roadways, air, water and consumer products safer, so similar regiments should be applied to guns and for the same effect.

But guns accidentally killed just 606 people in the U.S. in the most recent reporting year. That’s about 1/55th the number of people killed in traffic accidents.

Despite gun ownership steadily increasing over the past three decades, and with more than eleven million people obtaining permits to carry guns in public, accidental firearm mayhem has fallen to a rate so low as to approach statistically irrelevant noise levels. It has always been so, but interestingly the already low accidental firearm death rate is falling faster than that for cars, dropping 33% in the last decade compared to only 25% for autos.

They murdered 29 students. Boko Haram’s real name is Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnati Lidda’awati wal Jihad, which means the Party of the People of the Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad. It is carrying out is campaign of blood and terror for the goal of imposing Islamic law upon Nigeria and (given its activities outside that country) the surrounding areas. It is a movement that owes its existence to Islamic teaching, and which is devoted to implementing Islamic teaching. Yet in analyzing such movements, Western analysts begin by discounting the religious motive, in every case assuming that it must be a cover for something else. Then upon these mistaken assumptions they pile more mistaken assumptions, until we get the mess that is U.S. foreign policy today.

The unimaginable horror of this is compounded by the world’s indifference. The few who dare to call attention to jihad attacks like this one are vilified, mocked, shunned, ridiculed, and defamed, even as such attacks multiply and the body count mounts ever higher. Right now Western governments have apparently decided that jihad attacks like this one can’t happen in their countries, and so don’t matter, and that when they take place in faraway lands such as Nigeria, they need not disturb the comforting fictions about Islam’s jihad doctrine that form the cornerstone of so much of their domestic and foreign policy.

Documents from an Ohio National Guard (ONG) training drill conducted last January reveal the details of a mock disaster where Second Amendment supporters with “anti-government” opinions were portrayed as domestic terrorists.

The ONG 52nd Civil Support Team training scenario involved a plot from local school district employees to use biological weapons in order to advance their beliefs about “protecting Gun Rights and Second Amendment rights.”
